Mapsprink — Privacy Policy

Mapsprink ("the app") is a travel check-in app that lets you mark the countries and regions you have visited on an interactive world map. This policy explains exactly what data the app handles. The short version: your data stays on your device unless you explicitly choose to back it up to your own Google Drive.

1. What we store, and where

• On your device only. Your visited countries/regions and your app settings are saved in the app's own storage on your device. They are not sent to us, and we do not operate any account or server-side database of your data.
• No tracking. The app contains no analytics, advertising, or third-party tracking SDKs. We do not build a profile of you.

2. Optional Google Drive backup

If — and only if — you choose to connect Google Drive, the app uses it as an extra place to keep your export file:

• It uses the drive.file permission, which means the app can only see and manage the files it creates. It cannot read, list, or touch any of your other Google Drive files.
• It creates a folder named Mapsprink Backups in your Drive and saves a JSON copy of your progress there. The folder and files remain in your Google account; we never receive a copy.
• You can disconnect at any time and delete the folder yourself from Google Drive.

3. Location (only when you use "locate me")

The app requests location permission solely to power the optional "locate me / find my region" feature. When you tap it, your device's current location is used on your device to highlight the country or region you are in. Your location is not stored, not logged, and never sent to us or any third party. The feature is entirely optional — you can deny or revoke the permission at any time in your device settings, and the rest of the app works without it.

4. Snapshots & sharing

The camera/snapshot feature renders an image of your map entirely on your device. An image is only shared if you actively pick a destination in your device's share sheet. We do not upload or store your snapshots.

5. Hosting & server logs

The app itself is a native app installed from the app store and runs on your device. These policy/terms pages are served as static files by our hosting provider (Cloudflare Pages); like virtually all web servers, the provider may process standard technical request data (such as IP address and browser type) when you open these pages, to deliver them and protect against abuse. We do not use this for tracking and do not combine it with your in-app data.

6. Children

Mapsprink is a general-audience app and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

7. Your control

• Delete all in-app data by clearing the app's storage / app data, or via the app's reset.
• Revoke Google Drive access anytime in your Google Account security settings, and delete the Mapsprink Backups folder.
• Deny or revoke the location permission anytime in your device settings.

8. Changes

If this policy changes, we will update the date above and post the new version at this URL.

9. Governing language

This Privacy Policy is written in English, which is the authoritative, governing version. Traditional Chinese (繁體中文) and Simplified Chinese (简体中文) versions are provided for convenience only. If there is any conflict or discrepancy between the English version and any translation, the English version prevails.
